  PM Knife Reverse.JPG - PICKANDS MATHER KNIFE SAFETY AWARD - Folding pocket knife with two blades, 3 3/8 in. long, marked with 1/2 in. dia red, white and blue plaque labelled with PMCo for Pickands Mather Co., marked RECORD MINE for SAFETY 1919 on one side and AWARDED TO {miners name} CARY MINE, this knife has theengraved name of Louis De Diana, an immigrant from Italy in 1907 and a mine watchman at the Cary Mine, ex-Dave Johnson and Neil Tysver collections [The Cary Mine was an underground iron mine located near Hurley, WI owned by the Pickands Mather Co and operated from 1886 to 1964. Every employee at the Cary Mine received the knife safety award for having the lowestaccident rate of any PM mines in 1919.]
