  IMG_2175.JPG - CUPEL TONGS - Steel cupel tongs, 36 in. length, rescued from assayer Clarence Hersey’s old assay office (established 1879) at 110 East 5th Street in Leadville, CO, similar tongs offered on page 285 of the 1910 Denver Fire Clay Catalog, ex-Mike McCoy collection (As reported in the June 27, 1908 edition of the Twin Lakes Miner newspaper, M. G. Alexander succeeded Hersey as assayer at this office)
