BUTTE, MONTANA; No.1 is for original Western Federation of Miners union formed in Butte in 1893; ex-Tim Gordon collection (On May 15,1893, a convention was held in Butte, MT by representatives of the miners' unions from Utah, South Dakota, Idaho, Montana and Colorado. On this date, the Western Federation of Miners was created. This ribbon ca. 1893 is for the famous Lodge No. 1 of the WFM in Butte, MT. The reverse side is a black mourning ribbon for funerals of fellow miners.)
